Premier League football returns this weekend, and so does FPL. But a bad captain choice in FPL gameweek 12 could make you regret being excited that FPL has returned. That’s why once again, we’ve narrowed the massive pool of options down to four promising players, for you.
Watford vs Manchester United
With Watford having multiple defensive and midfield absentees following the conclusion of the International break, Ronaldo looks good to reward managers who hand him the armband this weekend. Although Ronaldo’s form might serve as some discouragement to making him captain, Watford’s form should erase such doubts that Ronaldo should bag a goal or more for Manchester United.
Liverpool vs Arsenal
While Liverpool might come up against a tricky fixture with high-flying Arsenal, captaining Salah might just be the best way to play it safe. This season he’s top for shots, shots on target, shots in the box, big chances created, goals, xA, assists, and 5th for key passes. Seven goal contributions in three games against Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea also mean he’s proven to be relatively fixture proof as well. So far, the best FPL asset heading into game week 12.
Manchester City vs Everton
With Mohamed Salah facing a difficult match against Arsenal, Manchester City full-back Joao Cancelo – who is the second highest-scoring player behind Salah – might be the next best option to give the armband. Should Everton fail to pressure City, Cancelo who seems more a forward than a defender with his high attacking returns, could fancy bagging himself another clean sheet, and making another attacking return at the Etihad.
Tottenham Hotspur vs Leed United
Tottenham face Leeds at home, and the biggest test would be having to settle on which of Tottenham’s duo of Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son should have the captain’s armband. But after scoring seven times for England during the international break, Kane should be the more tempting option on GW12. But, there is no right or wrong answer when it comes to Kane or Son; feel free to replace Kane with Son if that best fits your formation.
