In preparation for a new game week (GW 12), we cast our minds back to the four times FPL goalkeepers made important, and sometimes, decisive penalty saves and how much reward it got them.
Emiliano Martínez (Aston Villa)
…saved a penalty against Arsenal in GW 9 and took home his highest points haul (10) of the season, despite conceding three goals in the same game.
David de Gea (Manchester United)
…saved a penalty to give Manchester United a 2-1 win over West Ham in GW5. This saw him make a personal best this season in terms of points haul – 10. Two other times he had come that close was when his clean sheets against Wolves (GW3) and Tottenham (GW10) earned him 7 and 6 points respectively.
Ben Foster (Watford)
…a penalty save against Arsenal in GW 11 meant his points haul of 11 would be his new season-best. This was three times higher than his previous most points in a game this season (3 points in GW5 and GW6).
Freddie Woodman (Newcastle United)
…saved a penalty in a 4-2 defeat at home to West Ham and took home and raked in 6 points. After recording 1 point, 2 points, and 0 points in the game weeks that followed, he has since failed to start for Newcastle.
